WHAT IS A SURF SAFARI?
Our Surf Safari weeks run either side of summer, when the Algarve turns on its best conditions. Each morning one truck heads out with a single target: find the best waves of the day.
West coast, south coast, secret corners, your guide reads the forecast and takes you straight to where it's working.
Through the year we do our best to separate surfers from intermediates and beginners, but in peak season it can get challenging.
Safari weeks are the guarantee: a week built purely for you as a surfer, with a dedicated driver and guide to go surf with every day of your week.
You'll be filmed at least once over the week, with playback and pointers after the day, and a great way to grade yourself on the IAMBANDS scale, the pathway toward our Alan Stokes Training Weeks and SURF BOOTYS at the end of the year. Loaded up, as always, with the same amazing trademark Surf Experience lunches.

On request we can bring a pro surf photographer on one of the days which is highly recommended.

SURF SAFARIS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What level do I need to be for a Surf Safari week?

You should be able to paddle into and ride green (unbroken) waves confidently. If you're still on the white water or just getting to grips with green waves, our Surf School weeks will get you there faster.
Does a Safari week cost more than a normal week?

No, Safari weeks are the same price as our standard all-inclusive weeks, and still include accommodation, breakfasts and our trademark lunches. See Booking & Prices for current rates.
Where do we surf?

Wherever is best that day. The Algarve's south and west coasts offer a huge range of beach breaks, points and reefs within an easy drive of Lagos. Your guide picks the day's top option based on swell, wind and tide.
Can I get photos or video of my surfing?

Yes. You'll be filmed at least twice during the week with playback and pointers after the day, and on request we can bring a pro surf photographer along for a day — highly recommended.
When do Safari weeks run?

Six weeks a year, either side of summer — March, April, May, September, October and November — when the Algarve gets its most consistent swell and the beaches are quietest.
