WHAT IS A LONGBOARD WEEK?
Now in its 11th anniversary year, our Longboard Week is a dedicated specialist week with Manuel “Necas” Mestre and Surf Experience Portugal. It starts with a reception and introduction with Necas, and a briefing of the week ahead.
The training is always divided into two parts: theory and practical. The theoretical part is held at the surf camp at the end of the day — or whenever the conditions aren't on our side — while the practical sessions chase the most fun spots on the coast, mainly point breaks.
Numbers are limited to 6 people per week, every session is filmed, and the main objective is simple: FUN, and surfing the best waves possible. These sessions will bring your longboard game up several notches — book early, as we always sell out.
MEET YOUR COACH - Manuel “Necas” Mestre
One of the most revered longboard legends of Portugal and an all-round awesome guy.
Champion pedigree
4× Algarve Champion. 2× National Champion. European ranking of 4 and world ranking of 16.
Represented Portugal at the World longboarding championship seven times, and was a Team Portugal winner. When Necas talks trim, noseriding and glide, it comes from the very top of the sport.
Theory meets water time
Daily practical sessions on the coast's most fun spots, backed by evening theory at the surf camp: custom handmade longboards and how they work, film study, and a constructive breakdown of your own footage to right all wrongs and bad habits.

Do I need my own longboard?

Bring your own log if you have one, or rent one from us for the week for an extra €75.
How much does it cost and what's included?

€649 per surfer: a week of coaching with Manuel “Necas” Mestre, every session filmed with footage review, extra onus on nutrition for lunches, one 30-minute massage, and the usual Surf Experience hosting. Longboard rental is an optional €75 extra.
Where do we surf?

Wherever is best that day. The Algarve's south and west coasts offer a huge range of beach breaks, points and reefs within an easy drive of Lagos. Your guide picks the day's top option based on swell, wind and tide.
What happens on the first day?

A reception and introduction with Necas and a briefing of the week, then a first evaluation session in the water to assess each surfer's habits — so the rest of the week's coaching is built around what you actually need.
What are the theory sessions?

Held at the surf camp at the end of the day (or when conditions aren't on our side): custom handmade longboards and how they work, film study, review of your own footage with constructive critique, a group brainstorm of the day, plus walk-on-the-board and duck-dive technique.
